A new toilet is a long-term investment — most last 25+ years. KOHLER manufactures some of the most reliable, water-efficient toilets available, and understanding the key differences will help you pick the right one for your home.
Two-piece toilets have a separate tank and bowl. They're the most common and affordable option. The Cimarron and Memoirs Stately are popular two-piece choices. If a part needs replacement, you can swap just the tank or bowl independently.
One-piece toilets integrate the tank and bowl into a seamless unit. They're easier to clean (no gap between tank and bowl), look more modern, and sit slightly lower. The San Souci and Persuade Curv are excellent one-piece options. They're heavier, so installation may require two people.
The flush system is the heart of any toilet. KOHLER offers several proprietary technologies:
Comfort Height toilets sit 17-19 inches from floor to seat top (similar to a chair). They're easier to sit down on and stand up from, making them the preferred choice for most adults and required for ADA compliance. Most KOHLER toilets are now available in Comfort Height.
Standard Height toilets sit 15-16 inches and may be preferred for shorter individuals or children's bathrooms.
Elongated bowls are oval-shaped and offer more sitting area and comfort. They're the standard choice for most bathrooms. Compact elongated bowls offer elongated comfort in a round-front footprint — perfect for smaller bathrooms.
Round-front bowls save about 2 inches of space and work well in tight powder rooms or half baths.
All KOHLER toilets meet or exceed WaterSense standards at 1.28 GPF (gallons per flush) or less, saving up to 20% water compared to older 1.6 GPF models. Dual-flush models offer 1.1/1.6 GPF options for even greater savings.
